The next type of food you’ll put in the same container for storage will absorb the coffee taste and smell.

You can prevent this problem by deodorizing the plastic container with the help of safe household products.

Step 1

First, clean the container with warm water and dishwashing soap to get rid of any coffee smells. Once done, rinse the container and smell it. If it’s still smelling coffee, proceed to the next step.

Step 2

Take some baking soda and sprinkle a little amount of it into the container. Cover the container and leave it overnight. Baking soda works as a natural smell absorbent. Thus, it’ll pull out any coffee smell.

Step 3

Measure a cup of white vinegar and add it into the container. White vinegar has deodorizing properties and foams upon mixing with baking soda.

Next, cover the plastic container with its lid. Shake the container to clean its interior thoroughly. Open the container and pour the mixture. Rinse it thoroughly.

Step 4

To remove any remnant coffee odor, mix white vinegar and water in the ratio of 1:1 respectively and soak the container in the mixture for about 1 hour.

Wash the container with water and dishwashing soap. Rinse the container and dry it.
