How to Clear Coffee Stains From a Mattress?

Taking breakfast while in bed feels great. However, spilling coffee can ruin the entire moment. Although you may remove the sheets as soon as you spill coffee on your bed, some coffee may find its way to the mattress fabric and stain it.

Luckily, it’s possible to remove the stains from your mattress without much effort by using the right cleaning products.

Step 1

Take some paper towels and press them on the stain. Paper towels will absorb much of the liquid if it’s still wet. Once the paper towels soak, replace them with new towels until much of the moisture is absorbed.

Step 2

Get a commercial spray stain remover for laundry and spray it on the stained spot. The stain remover will saturate the stain. Preferably, use a stain remover that contains oxygen bleach as it’s safe for use on many types of fabric.

Step 3

Allow the stain remover to sit on the stain for a minimum of 15 minutes. You can check the label on the product for a specified waiting time.

Step 4

Take a sponge and dampen it with water. Rub it on the stain. Next, blot the stained spot with clean paper towels. Rinse the sponge with running water to remove the coffee it has absorbed. Scrub the stained spot again until the spot clears further.

Step 5

Take paper towels and blot the spot. If there’s any coffee color coming up, scrub the spot again with a rinsed sponge.

In case the stain is persistent, apply the spray stain remover once again and allow it to sit for about 15 minutes or as indicated by the manufacturer on the product label.

Step 6

Take a clean cloth or paper towels and damp them with water to rinse off the spot. Allow the mattress to air dry with the help of a fan or blow-drier. In case you opt for the latter, ensure the stain has cleared to avoid baking it onto the fabric.
