How to Make Layered Iced Coffee at Home

Ingredients Required:

  • Ice cubes
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 6 ounces cold water
  • Sweeter (optional)

Recipe:

Step 1– Add the instant coffee and water to a sealable canning jar or a Mason jar. Also, add in a sweetener of your choice if need be. The amount of sweetener to add will depend on your taste.

However, it is optional to add a sweetener. A liquid sweetener or simple syrup works best with layered iced coffee. If you are using a granulated sweetener such as sugar, use the one with finer granules to dissolve easily.

You can adjust the ingredients depending on the size of your glass.

Step 2– Seal the jar with the lid tightly. Shake the contents vigorously for some seconds until the coffee dissolves to form a thick foam.

Step 3– Add ice cubes to a glass to about ¼ full. Avoid filling the glass with ice since it might become too full and fail to give you the desired layered coffee effect.

Step 4– Pour the milk over the ice cubes. You can adjust the amount of milk depending on your taste preference. If you do not like taking dairy, you can use non-dairy milk options such as coconut milk, soy milk, or nut milk. Preferably, use evaporated milk rather than regular milk

Step 5– Shake the jar once more. Open the lid and pour the coffee slowly into the glass. You can top the drink with whipped cream or cocoa to give it an extra touch. Enjoy your layered iced coffee while still chilled.
