Recipe – How to Make Lavender Coffee

Here is a step-by-step process of making lavender coffee:

Step 1 – Make Lavender Syrup

Combine water and the lavender in a saucepan. Allow the mixture to boil. Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat on your stove to allow the mixture to simmer. Let it simmer for about 3 to 4 minutes. Then remove the saucepan from the heat. Allow the mixture to stand and cool to room temperature. Once the mixture cools, strain the mixture to separate the lavender buds from the lavender mixture.

Take another saucepan and add about 2 to 3 tablespoons of the ready lavender water. It should only wet the sugar. Boil the mixture and reduce the heat. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 4-5 minutes while whisking periodically. You can also wait for the mixture to have a syrup consistency.

Next, add the remaining lavender water and whisk until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove the ready lavender syrup and store it in the fridge.

Step 2- Prepare Strong Coffee

Now, you need to make a strong cup of coffee. Preferably, make a shot of espresso for the best-tasting lavender coffee. You will need an espresso machine to make a shot of espresso. Alternatively, use a French press to make a strong brew like espresso.

Step 3- Steaming the milk

As your coffee brews, add the milk to a bowl. Use a milk steamer to heat the milk until it gets the consistency of light froth. Approximately 30 to 45 seconds of heating the milk are enough.

In case you do not have a milk steamer, you can use an alternative method. Simply get a sealable microwave-safe container and pour the milk into the container. Microwave the milk without closing the lid for about 1 minute. The milk should heat up but do not allow it to boil. Wear a pair of mitts and remove the container from the microwave. Attach the lid and close it tightly. Shake the container for about 30 seconds.

Step 4- Combine and serve

Take a mug and add the prepared lavender syrup and espresso. Stir thoroughly to blend the mixture. Top the drink with lavender coffee. Sprinkle the top of the drink with some lavender buds. If you want sweeter lavender coffee, drizzle lavender syrup over the milk. Enjoy your drink.
