Just follow the few, simple steps below. The process will take you less than an hour of your time. Also, the required ingredients are inexpensive and easy to find. Besides, our fake spilled coffee is something you can reuse as an authentic prank or prop severally.

Materials and Tools Required:

  • Coffee cup (get a cheap one)
  • Silicone baking sheet or wax paper
  • Hot gun glue sticks
  • Acrylic ink (transparent raw umber color)
  • Oven or microwave (for melting the hot gun glue sticks)
  • Mixing tool (you can use a bamboo chopstick)

The Process of Making Fake Spilled Coffee

Step 1- Melt the Glue Sticks

First, put three hot gun glue sticks in the coffee cup. Put the cup in the microwave. Run your microwave until the glue melts in the cup. You can melt more glue sticks in the cup until you get the amount of fake spilled coffee you want to make.

There is no specific timeline for how long it will take the glue to melt. It will depend on several factors such as the thickness of the glue sticks, the number of sticks you are melting, and the wattage of your microwave.

You can check the melting glue every minute to see the progress. Push the sticks against the walls of the cup for faster melting. Your glue should be melted enough when it forms a puddle in the bottom of the cup.

Step 2- Adding the Coloring

Next, add the acrylic ink to the melted glue. You can add the coloring in stages until you get the darkness you want. The coloring may boil upon coming into contact with the melted glue due to the high melting point of the glue. You can mix the coloring into the glue immediately you add it to prevent bubbling. Use a chopstick to mix them. You can return the mixture to the microwave to cook it further to clear most of the bubbling.

Step 3- Create a Fake Spill

Line the microwave glass plate or oven surface with a silicone baking sheet or wax paper. Doing so will prevent the glue and cup from adhering permanently on the microwave or oven surface.

Next, tip the cup on its side to spill out the fake coffee. Run the microwave for some minutes while monitoring the fake coffee. It will soon start running out of the cup onto the laid protective silicone sheet. If need be, pull the fake coffee out of the cup with a chopstick.

Step 4- Set up the Fake Spilled Coffee

Allow the spilled coffee to cool in the oven or microwave. Next, remove it and peel off the silicone baking sheet. The baking sheet should come off easily.

Transfer the hardened coffee spill to the surface where you want to look as if you spilled coffee. You can reuse it as many times as possible since the glue makes it very durable. Although it might not look very perfect, it will create the shock effect you want at first sight before someone realizes they have been pranked. Now you know how to make fake spilled coffee in a few, simple steps.
