How to Make A Cellulite Coffee Scrub

A coffee scrub does exactly what it says: scrubbing your skin with coffee grounds. Although scientific evidence is not sufficient enough, coffee scrubs are praised in beauty magazines and on the internet for their effectiveness in cellulite treatment. The best thing about a cellulite coffee scrub is that it is an all-natural skincare product.

Coffee scrubs are believed to be great for managing cellulite due to their potent antioxidant and caffeine content. Cellulite is a form of dimples on the skin that mostly affect women. It also affects some men. Cellulite usually forms when fatty tissues under the skin press against the tissues closer to the surface of the skin.

Although cellulite may occur anywhere on the body, it is most common in areas with fatty tissues such as the thighs and buttocks. It is often difficult to get rid of cellulite the moment you have it. Available treatment options mainly focus on reducing their appearance. Coffee scrubs have been shown to help in reducing their appearance. In this guide, we will show you how to make a cellulite coffee scrub.

The Science Behind a Cellulite Coffee Scrub

Coffee scrubs are believed to help treat cellulite in various ways. Essentially, the caffeine compound in coffee works by dilating blood vessels. As a result, there is reduced appearance of cellulite. Also, caffeine helps the skin tighten due to its ability to eliminate excess water and improve blood flow.

Additionally, coffee is rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants are beneficial in that they promote healthier skin tone. The antioxidants in coffee include plant-based chemicals known as phenols that keep the body protected against free radicals.

A coffee scrub also has natural exfoliating effects due to the coffee grounds in it. As an exfoliator, a cellulite coffee scrub works by removing dead skin cells from the affected areas. Consequently, the skin looks more even and smoother. While exfoliation does not clear cellulite, it reduces their appearance.

A coffee scrub also works as a massager. As you apply the scrub on the affected areas, the massaging action assists in stretching the skin tissue and assists lymphatic drainage, which reduces cellulite appearance.

How to Make a Cellulite Coffee Scrub at Home

Required Ingredients:

  • Fresh coffee grounds (unused)
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar or sea salt
  • 6 tablespoons of coconut oil or olive oil (optional)
  • Dry brush (optional)
  • Empty jar
  • Large bowl or measuring cup

Steps to Follow:

Step 1– First, combine fresh coffee grounds and sugar or sea salt in a large bowl or measuring cup. Avoid using used coffee grounds because they are already damaged due to the extraction process during brewing. You will need caffeine in the mix for the best results. Unused coffee grounds are rich in caffeine, unlike used grounds. Also, use caffeinated coffee grounds instead of decaf.

Step 2– If your skin is dry, add some olive or coconut oil to the mixture. If your coconut oil is solid, start by melting it in the microwave before adding it to the coffee grounds mixture. Mix the ingredients thoroughly.

Step 3– Transfer the mixture to a waterproof container or jar.

Step 4– Use a dry brush to exfoliate the skin and stimulate blood flow before applying the scrub. Brush lightly over the problem areas in a circular motion. However, this step is optional.

Step 5– Step into the shower and apply the coffee scrub on the problem areas. Massage the scrub in a circular motion onto the skin. Rinse off and apply the scrub a few times every week for the best results.

Final Thoughts

Coffee scrubs have become a trendy cellulite treatment option. Many users report seeing positive results. However, it might take you a couple of weeks of regular scrubbing to start seeing significant results. Visit your dermatologist if you fail to see any improvements. Also, stop using the scrub in case your skin reacts negatively.
