As you rush to take breakfast while preparing for work in the morning, you may accidentally spill coffee on your precious leather purse. Although leather stains are often challenging to remove, you can still clear them and continue using your leather purse rather than storing it away.
To succeed in removing the stain, remove it as soon as it occurs. Also, use the right stain removal products. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1
First, use clean paper towels to blot the stain. Avoid rubbing the purse as doing so will only worsen the stain. Simply press each paper towel gently on the stain to absorb most of the coffee.
Step 2
Wet a clean, soft cloth with warm water. Use it to rub the purse gently. Rub the stain toward the direction that the leather runs. Avoid applying water directly on the purse as it may damage the leather material.
Step 3
If the previous step didn’t work, dampen the cloth with a mild dishwashing liquid detergent. You can also use leather soap or saddle soap. Next, rub the purse towards the direction that the leather runs. Use a damp cloth to rinse the purse. Avoid rinsing it under running water as doing so can damage leather.
Step 4
If the stain persists, mix warm water and white vinegar in a wide bowl in the ratio of 2:1 respectively. Take a clean, soft cloth and dip it in the mixture. First, rub a hidden spot on the leather purse, preferably the interior, before rubbing the exterior to test whether the mixture may cause any damage. In case it doesn’t cause any damage, rub the stained spot.
Step 5
Take a clean, dry towel and rub the wet spot to suck up the moisture for a dry and shiny look.
