While it is not clear the effects that coffee has on your digestive system. it is said that coffee urges you to go. Your brew has such a powerful impact on your bowels that many people use enemas and cleanses of coffee to clean their stomachs.

Clinical Nutrition Research on July 14th concluded by saying enemas of coffee are effective pre-colonoscopy to clean your colon effectively. This study was done with 34 participants.

What Exactly Makes Your Stomach Upset?

We all know coffee contains caffeine, a natural stimulant that awakes your brain to stay alert. European Journal of Sports Science conducted a study with 53 participants in 2016. According to them, caffeine can activate the contract muscles of the intestine and colon of your body. Also, caffeine can activate some hormones which control your colon.

A journal by Nutrition showed a study having 40 participants both men and women in March 2016. It showed the caffeine has some effect on the sympathetic nervous system, which handles the “fight or flight” response in our body. This can have a straight effect on our intestines. These reasons can in return cause GI diseases or diarrhea.

Morning Diarrhea Reasons

Sometimes, having diarrhea and having a cup of coffee can collide in the morning. But a study from 2017 from Planta Medica says there is no link between coffee and diarrhea. And according to them, coffee can even cure many diseases which can cause diarrhea or any other problems.

Common reasons for diarrhea are infections like bacterial, viral, or parasitic infections or it can be also because of medication side effects. This is stated by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. They also found some regular reasons behind chronic diarrhea. Surgery in abdominal and lifetime/long-time medications can cause this type of diarrhea.

Treatments for Diarrhea

This can be cured pretty easily, as it is very common. Home remedies and any other medication can work fine after analyzing the symptoms. This can make your life way a lot easier.

Having diarrhea can make you dehydrated very quickly by going to the bathroom couple of times for your bowels. So, keep drinking liquids to give your body a sufficient amount of water. So, keep some bottles of sports drink or fruit juice with you. And stay as away as possible from anything that could contain caffeine or alcohol. Anything with carbonation too can upset your stomach.

Changing your diet to something simple and bland can be smart while suffering or recovering from diarrhea. So, you can add foods like banana, bread, or rice to your meals. You will want to avoid foods that are heavy to digest, which have a lot of fats and grease on them.

To reduce the symptoms, you can use many OTC medications. Just make sure they contain loperamide. If you are suffering from more pain, you should visit a doctor for medical attention. Look out for symptoms like bloody diarrhea, dizziness, pain, dehydration, or even if you have a fever.
