How to Make Coffee Chocolates – Recipe

Step 1- Crush the Instant Coffee

Ground coffee is extremely grainy and will not form a fine mixture. Thus, your best choice is an instant coffee of your preferred brand. You can also use decaf instant coffee if you are trying to reduce your daily caffeine intake.

You need to crush the instant coffee into a finer powder for a smoother finish. To do this, add enough instant coffee into a mortar. Crush the instant coffee with the pestle to grind it into a finer powder. Ensure the mortar and pestle are thoroughly clean to avoid introducing foreign tastes and smells into the coffee powder.

Step 2- Melt the Chocolate Chips

Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat the chocolate chips in the microwave to melt them. Be careful not to burn the chocolate. Preferably, take the chocolate out of the microwave a few times to stir it. That way, you will prevent the melting chocolate from burning. Although you can use any chocolate chips, dark chocolate makes the best-tasting coffee chocolates.

Step 3- Add in Instant Coffee Powder

Add 1 tablespoon of instant coffee powder for every bag of chocolate chips. Mix them up with a second spoon. Taste the mixture to assess whether it is as tasty as you want it. If not, add a little more instant coffee and taste. Start by adding ground instant coffee in small amounts as it is easier to add extra coffee powder than melt more chocolate.

Step 4- Make Chocolate Molds

You can use the mixture to make chocolate bars or chocolate molds of your desired shape. To do this, spoon the melted coffee-chocolate mixture into the wells of a mold. Coat all the sides of the mold with the help of a spoon.

Keep the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to harden. Next, press the mixture into the shells of the mold. Top with more of the melted chocolate until full. Then set the molds in the freezer for about 30 to 60 minutes. Remove the mold from the freezer. Press out the coffee chocolates and enjoy eating your special treats.
